About Michael
Mike is a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, VA. He grew up immersed in the real estate business and enjoying the outdoors in our beautiful Shenandoah Valley. His father, Clyde, founded Old Dominion Realty in 1963 when Mike was 9 years old. At 19, after Clyde suffered a heart attack, Mike was moved to take over Old Dominion with the support of deep friendships with local brokers. In 1975, Mike obtained his Real Estate Broker's License and became Principal Broker of Old Dominion Realty. In 1991, he became one of the first Certified General Appraisers in Virginia. Under Mike’s leadership, Old Dominion Realty has grown from six agents in one office to over 100 agents and staff in five offices, creating a regional footprint while maintaining a family culture. Mike currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for F&M Bank and is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Sunnyside Communities. He served two terms as President of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Association of Realtors and is a past member of the Board of Directors for Bridgewater Retirement Community. In 2012, Mike was named Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year. Mike specializes in commercial real estate sales, leasing, and appraisal. Outside of business, he enjoys spending time outdoors, fishing for striped bass at Smith Mountain Lake or trout in Highland County, VA, or Pendleton County, WV. Mike and his wife, Barbara, currently live in Rockingham County on their farm, south of Bridgewater. He has three grown children: Daughter Micah and her husband, Chad, who also work at Old Dominion Realty; his son John Pugh, who owns Pugh’s Landscaping and Painting locally; and his daughter Jessi and her husband, Connor LaPointe.
